Rooftop Screening Services — DFW Metroplex
Custom Mechanical Equipment fabricates RTU screening, HVAC screens, and mechanical equipment enclosures for commercial rooftops across the Dallas–Fort Worth metroplex. Every system is custom-fabricated to your layout, code package, and finish schedule.
RTU screening DFW by equipment type
Every rooftop screening system below is custom-fabricated for DFW commercial buildings. We draw to your roof plan, coordinate plan-review submittals, and ship panels cut to approved drawings — no field-cut kits.
Solid Panel Screening
When zoning or design guidelines require the RTU to disappear from street view, solid 26-gauge steel panels are the standard path. We fabricate screen walls that conceal packaged units, exhaust fans, and cooling towers from pedestrian corridors along Ross Avenue, Commerce Street, and Main Street in Fort Worth — without leaving raw, unfinished metal on the roof.
Every solid panel run is drawn to your equipment map and roof edges. Heights are set relative to your parapet line, not a catalog dimension. Finish schedules include gauge, coating, and color for plan review.
Perforated Panel Screening
Mechanical engineers specify a free-area number; you need a perforated pattern that hits it without choking the coil. Perforated faces soften the visual impact while maintaining airflow — critical when rooftop units run hard through North Texas summers.
We define open area in the shop drawing, not with a field drill. Your mechanical engineer reviews the pattern against manufacturer clearances before fabrication starts.
Louvered Screening
Louvered layouts give you defined open area with a more architectural profile than raw perforated sheet. We coordinate louver spacing and orientation with your mechanical schedule so service access and airflow both survive plan review.
Common on Uptown Dallas office towers, Las Colinas mid-rises, and Preston Road corridor buildings where screening quality is visible from street level and neighboring rooftops.
Non-Penetrating Systems
Membrane warranties, existing insulation, and roof deck conditions often prohibit new roof penetrations. Ballasted and post-mount base systems meet your engineer of record's requirements — not a kit that usually works.
Non-penetrating systems are especially relevant for older downtown Dallas and Fort Worth buildings where deck conditions and warranty terms add constraints before the building department review. We coordinate the ballast or post-mount approach with your structural engineer and include that documentation in the shop drawing package.
Wind & Storm-Load Systems
DFW wind design loads and severe weather exposure add real structural demand to every roof screen calculation. A wall that passes permit issuance but fails under design wind is not a wall we ship. We coordinate with your structural engineer so the screen survives storm season, not just the permit stamp.
Wind load coordination is built into our shop drawings from the start — attachment method, base design, and panel gauge are all sized for the load case your engineer specifies.
Schools & Hospitals
Healthcare campuses in the Dallas Medical District, school renovations across Plano and Arlington, and institutional projects have their own access, noise, and scheduling constraints. We fabricate screening for occupied buildings where freight windows and install sequencing matter as much as the drawing set.
RTU screening DFW requirements apply to institutional projects the same as commercial towers — all-sides screening, parapet-relative heights, and stamped shop drawings.
